The office garden forms an oasis of greenery and borders the open water of the Nieuwe Vaart canal. The eye-catchers of the garden are the spectacular tree posts. They catapult greenery into the air, as it were, creating a surprising dimension within the ensemble of buildings. The ceramics were manually pointed, fixed by a special process and made weatherproof. As far as we know, this is the first façade cladding in the Netherlands to be made of porcelain. But De Bois was particularly interested in graphic work and he displayed in his gallery etchings by Goya, lithographs by Daumier and prints by Redon and Käthe Kollwitz, for instance. His first major exhibition showcased graphic work by James Ensor.Ingwersen in 1921 and was commissioned by the reformed housing foundation Patrimonium. It was built between 1921 and 1923 and covers some 16 hectares. The design is completed with the placement of a contemporary extension. The opening of 'A-imagination in Architect ure; about Artificial Intelligence (AI), imagination and reality' is scheduled for Sunday afternoon, April 14 at 3 p.m. Then a conversation will take place between artists Rogier Polman and Léon van Kuijk, urban planner Ricsi van Beek and landscape architect Maurice Käss about the use of AI in their work. That conversation is led by Gabriël Verheggen, director of ABC. From April 14 to mid-September, the ABC will present the project 'A-imagination in Architecture; about Artificial Intelligence (AI), imagination and reality'. The exhibition shows that autonomous architectural works of art can be realized with AI and that AI is an inspiring tool for contemporary design assignments. With its efficient floor plan and partly standardized construction, the school was the precursor to a series of patio schools built in the 1960s. In Interieur , our plan was to radically update the building by increasing its transparency, bringing in more daylight and air, and ensuring better interaction between inside and outside. The interior, with its endlessly long, closed corridors and claustrophobic cell-like offices, would be replaced by a more contemporary, open and flexible layout, with space for socialising and co-working.The colors vary from blue-green to turquoise to white, and they refer to the dark green, ceramic ornaments of Leon Senf in the old building. Haenen also sought a dialogue with the nearby Sint Bavo Cathedral which also contains a lot of architectural ceramics. The practice carefully aligned the new design elements with shapes drawn from the architectural features of the house, with the new full-height door openings echoing the proportions of the living room's original windows. The small, colourful windows of the original façade were replace by expansive glass bays, adding daylight, spaciousness and transparency to the structure. It would also generate a large, high and adjustable interior space with cultural and commercial functions. A multicultural school, it had a reputation as a problem institution with a declining number of pupils. The introvert school building was behind the times, and its appearance and colour palette out of date. In meer info vinden of learning, the school needed space for group activities and celebrations. "Our colour scheme always consists of earthy colours like moss green, a faded terracotta, grey concrete and off-whites," the studio said.It was initially thought that further space would be needed in other buildings and by adding a sizeable new extension that would increase the building’s footprint. However, we found it important to preserve the existing footprint and did so by adding a lightweight, sustainable wooden volume, constructed on circular principles, to the U-shaped void of the original design. The unique, specially designed brick adds some extra green to the neighborhood and gives this project a social layer. Together with designer Chris Kabel we have devised a new facade that is brought to life by the residents. Van Campen worked as an architect, a painter and a designer of decorative schemes, like that for the church organ in Alkmaar. Contact Us Architect Haarlem Email:

What is normally located at the rear of the house (suppliers' entrance, kitchen, privy, coal shed, storage room) was situated on the street side; the living area was situated at the rear/garden side. Johannes Bernardus (Han) van Loghem (1881–1940) was a Dutch architect, furniture designer and town planner. Transformative processes, particularly those relating to delicate fine-grained historic cities like Haarlem are complex and protracted. The design for the renovation and extension makes use of the original clear corridor arrangement. The toilet blocks once positioned at the end of the corridors have been removed to open up views of the surroundings, giving the school an open character.
