Throughout the hall and courtyard space a slew of public amenities in the form of retail, galleries, restaurants and cafes -many with open sight lines to the Coolsingel and Rodezand streets- will add up to the city’s pedestrian experience. The upper floors, formerly dedicated to the telegraph and telephone services of the Post Office, will be revived with a unique five-star hotel operated by leading brand Kimpton. Accessible from every side, this monument will, once again, serve as a point of engagement in the city center, a link between Rotterdam Centraal, all the way to the bustling Markthal. She spent her entire childhood painting and drawing, learning and trying different things, which led her to architecture.In consultation with Rik and Johan, it is decided to deploy him for all projects in the construction phase. The consequences of this urbanisation on the human ecosystem – such as flooding, heat stress and increased CO2 emissions – are becoming increasingly visible.At the same time, the habitat of birds, bees, butterflies and other insects is being severely curtailed by the increasingly crowded construction of cities and the petrification of the living environment. SAWA’s design marks a turning point in this development and contributes to a healthy living environment. SAWA’s exceptional feature is that the building is constructed entirely of CLT (cross laminated timber), whereby the use of concrete is kept to a minimum. Designed with nonpareil windows, the POST tower shows openings that vary in size and shape to funnel daylight. This variety sets a break from the series of glass-facade towers along the new Rotterdam skyline, and celebrates the elegance of the main hall along its profile. Located in Rotterdam's city center, this historically important building stands as a testament to the inextinguishable spirit of Rotterdam.Commissioned by Nice Developers & Era Contour, Mei architects and planners is designing “SAWA”.SAWA is a unique and circular wooden residential building of 50 meters high, adding value to the neighbourhood and the city in the broadest sense. These “shared values” relate to CO2 reduction, enhancing biodiversity and creating a circular building with affordable housing for an inclusive community. Benas was born in Vilnius, Lithuania, a city with a harmonious diversity of styles, where his interest in architecture grew and where he still finds relief by just wandering around. Later on, he settled in the Netherlands where once again he got acquainted with a completely different architectural mindset and in 2022 he received a master’s degree in architecture from TU Delft.During the seven months internship she decided to stay both in the country and the office. She currently lives in Lier with her husband and 2 children, where she found her garden with many vegetables and plants. I have been involved in architecture projects for 15 years with a focus on design solutions that bring together efficiency, comfort and identity for the final user. The simplification of the process that allows to reach solutions for complex issues has always been an obsession of mine. In this line I made up my career through different offices, and within the offices through the different projects I have worked on.
